Suk Lee Ba

Sessional Lecturer, Fashion Design

My name is Suk Han LEE and I am originally from Hong Kong. I graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Fashion Womenswear in 2001. Owing to my passion in drawing and creating patterns since I was a child, I set up my design studio in London about 15 years ago to sell my original fashion print designs directly to fashion brands worldwide, through international trade shows including Premiere Vision in Paris, as well as working closely with agents in the US and Australia. Since I stopped doing trade shows, I have been working on and off with existing clients on their commission projects.

Designing print and surface designs became my specialities which I now teach as a sessional lecturer in Ravensbourne FND as well as in City Lit Adult Education – Visual Arts. In order to enrich my skills in teaching, I am studying my PGCert at the moment.

As a practitioner, I focus on developing my own brand SUK. which promotes selfcare and sustainable living by offering sustainable fashion pieces with my print designs and natural vegan skincare which I formulated. Most of my skincare products have been awarded each year since they were launched in 2021. SUK. is now a member of British Beauty Council.

Some fashion projects I am also interested in are more conceptual design and innovation with technology. Recently I participated a group exhibition at City Lit which I created a piece of conceptual garment called ‘City & numbers’ by applying digital prints and laser cut to reflect our daily lives in a city. I am hoping to continue my research and design development, more exciting exhibitions could be materialised in the near future.
