Sherri Ellis Ba, PGCE, MA

Work Based Learning & Curriculum Development Manager

Sherri Ellis is a creative educator with over 15 years’ experience across post-compulsory teaching and learning in the creative fields. With a background in communication design, a BA (Hons) in Fashion Marketing & Communication, and an MA (Distinction) in Brands, Communication and Culture, Sherri’s work focuses on the intersection between education and design, considering how communication and culture inform pedagogical practices, and vice versa. Sherri’s most recent research project addresses the use of digital pedagogies as a social design practice, to improve the learning experiences for under-represented groups.

Sherri’s other academic interests include social and political culture, post-colonial theory, and environmentalism. Sherridraws on these subjects to inform her work in curriculum design, integrating environmental, social and justice-led approaches into the employability curriculum. Most recently, Sherri has delivered the first ever Work-Based Learning initiative at Ravensbourne University, with over 700 students taking part in authentic and meaningful industry-integrated learning experiences, across a range of sectors. Sherri led the facilitation of multiple industry-partnered projects, focusing on integrating business priorities at every level, ensuring students can respond to the challenges of environmental and social concerns within creative, media, technology and business fields.

Sherri’s current research initiative aims to further explore the links between the practice-based creative curriculum and integrated employability in the context of environmental and social governance.
