Dr Christos Manolas PhD MSc MA PGCert SFHEA

Associate Professor, Course Leader -
Music and Sound Production

Christos made his first steps in music and technology at an early age and has been revolving around these topics ever since. His areas of interest and expertise include music production and technology, audio production, sound design, audiovisual media, and software development, and his career includes work as a musician, sound designer, software developer and educator for over 25 years.

Christos holds a PhD in Stereoscopic 3D Media (Sound) and postgraduate degrees (MA, MSc) in Postproduction (Sound Design) and Music Technology, as well as undergraduate degrees in Music Performance, Computing, and Creative Media. His research interests include music and audio production, audio-visual media, multimodal perception, spatial and immersive audio, virtual and augmented reality, and the impact of digital technologies on media and education.

His academic career began in 1992, when he started teaching music performance and theory to undergraduate level students. Between 2000 and 2006, he taught IT and software development in various further and higher education institutions in Greece. Between 2010 and 2015 he worked as an Associate Lecturer and Laboratory Leader in Sound Design and Music Technology at the University of York (UK).

From 2017 to 2019 he worked as an Audio Production Lecturer at SAE Institute and between 2018 and 2019 as a Subject Leader and Senior Lecturer in Audio Production at Rose Bruford College in London, before joining Ravensbourne University in 2019. Currently, Christos holds the posts of Associate Professor and Course Leader in Music and Sound Production.
